Incheon Port’s America Sea Route PS1 to commence the call at Tacoma
Port


With the inclusion of Tacoma Port in the ocean route, PS1 (Pacific
South1) service that connects Incheon Port and USA, cargo from the
Northern American region can now arrive at Incheon Port without
transshipment.

On the 20th, Incheon Port Authority revealed that Tacoma Port located
in Washington State, USA had been added as a port of call in American
Sea Route PS1 service provided by Incheon Port. With this, the port
of call in America under the PS1 service has increased from the
existing 1 place at LA Port (Long Beach) to 2 places.

According to Incheon Port Authority (IPA), container shipment that
departs Tacoma Port would arrive Every Tuesday evening at Incheon New
Port’s Sun Kwang New Port Container Terminal (SNCT) and it takes 14
days from Tacoma Port to Incheon Port. HYUNDAI TACOMA which is
calling at Tacoma Port for the first time after the adjustment of PS1
service sea route is bound to leave Tacoma Port on the 28th carrying
scrap, hay and others and is expected to arrive at Incheon New Port
on 11th next month.

According to IPA, when importing livestock products or fresh fruits
through PS1 service, quarantine inspection and custom clearance would
be completed on the following day of arrival (Wednesday) to begin
shipment of cargo into metropolitan regions. Following such, if the
products are displayed in the retail market such as supermarkets, the
said livestock products and fresh fruits would be available on the
tables of consumers in the weekend when purchase and consumption are
concentrated. IPA plans to focus on the promotion of PS1 service
advantages through marketing targeting shippers so that cargo and
fresh food could reach the customers faster.
